This was the perfect car to take a long family vacation in. You would not believe how quiet the ride was. I miss the incredible comfort that these cars provided.

I bought one back in 1985 and later sold it to a friend of mine, who till this day has maintained it meticulously.
A very fine car indeed.

Bought one in 1978 used. One of the best cars I've ever owned.

It's also comes with a suspension system that gives you none of that annoying road feel that we all hated so much in the 1970s

This commercial scared the HELL out of me when I was kid -- I thought a ghost was driving the car.

My father's 1971 Chevrolet Impala Sport Sedan which he purchased used in 1972 was my most favorite car that he ever drove. When he bought it I became a life-long car lover at age eight. I remember the voice of this narrator and I clearly remember when the 1974 Caprice was introduced but I don't remember this commercial so thanks for uploading it.

OMG! I had to take my driver's test (in 1977) on one of these! I failed parallel parking (which was an instant fail on your driver's test back then) because prior to practicing on this "behemoth", I had only practiced driving on my best friend's dad's tiny Fiat. Come the morning of my test, my dad's friend drove out of town in the Fiat on a business trip and I was stuck with the Chevy! Yikes. I remember hitting the parallel parking barrier as if it were yesterday. That same week, my neighbor taught me to parallel park on her 1975 Chrysler New Yorker (also a "land yacht") and I returned to the driver's test behind the wheel of the Chevy and aced the test. After having parallel parked both "barges", I can pretty well parallel park anything! I don't need an app or AI to show me how!

My Driver's Ed class had these big Chevys. The instructor kept telling me to slow down.

A friend I know has one. It's silver with a burgundy vinyl top and interior, built in Canada.

I so miss those old big boats, todays big cars are smaller than the old small cars,

It would be interesting to see Level 5 autonomy done with 1970s tech. There'd be a huge tape machine in the trunk and you'd have to swap from one almost-briefcase-size cartridge to another if you wanted to take a different route...

I'd LOVE to have one as my daily driver!!

Those cars were remarkably easy to drive considering their large size....

Same car (but in convertible form) that Marsha and Greg Brady drove for their competition!

Cool I'm 16 and all I want is an old GM sedan like this one but it looks like I'm too late. Or maybe I'll find one, who knows.

This music starts out much like Bread's "If a Picture Paints a Thousand Words".

And everyone thinks self-driving cars are a 21st development.
