The way I understand it from the RATE papers, the helium would not leak into the zircons but would continue to defuse from the surrounding rock to the atmosphere. It is under pressure to reach equilibrium with the atmosphere (lighter elements rise). Uranium decay is observed in the present to be so slow the vast majority of helium produced by decay should have already leaked out of the rock everywhere and the atmospheric content would be much higher if the earth were old. This is not what we observe. The evolutionist rescue mechanism does not work. the atmospheric helium content is way too low for millions of years to be true. That's the science, not belief! And it is just one of the many indicators the world is young.
