Elon musk became the richest man in the world when Tesla's stock price surged over the latter half of the week. With that surge, since he owns a 20% stake in Tesla, his net worth, according to Forbes and the WSJ is now over $195 billion, surpassing Jeff Bezos as the richest man in the world.

When Elon Musk found this out, he tweeted simply - "How strange", and "Well, back to work".

Since his net worth went up about $165 billion in a year, we can calculate that he made the following in 2020:

we just did the math to equal 195b. if you get 1k per day it’d take 2.9 years to reach 1m. it’ll take 2, 777 years to reach 1B and roughly 541, 515 years to reach 195B if you got 1k a day
