Ursula Le Guin's A Wizard Of Earthsea (1996) starring Michael Maloney and Judi Dench

Radio 4's Christmas drama for 1996, this adaptation of Ursula Le Guin's famous fantasy novel boasts a starry cast - though sadly it wasn't followed by a sequel in 1997... listeners had to wait more than a decade before BBC radio would return to the world of Earthsea - though when it did, it adapted the full sequence, not just the first novel.

For those who need timestamps to jump around in this upload, Part 1 (Ged’s growing up on Gont and his service to Ogion the Wise) starts at the beginning and runs to 29:47. Part 2 (his time at the School of the Wise) runs from 1:28:25 until the end, and Part 3 (where he deals with the Dragon of Pendor and ultimately his Shadow) is in the middle (from 29:47 until 1:28:25). Please be aware that I’m partially sighted so while I’m pretty sure that these timings are accurate, you may need to scroll around a bit to find the points where each Part starts and ends

1st part is up 2 30min. Then skip too 1hour 28min (that's the 2nd part). When watched to the end, go back 2 30min for the end part 😊

This skips around some. The story ends around 1:47:00 and then picks up on some key missing middle chapters for 20 minutes.. Bummer when so much is left out already for the adaptation so it goes unnoticed till you're back in the middle.

How do you keep finding gems like this? From 1990 to 2000 I was self-employed, working from home. and have many of the audios you post recorded on tape-cassette. Unfortunately an injury prevented me from continuing this job and the cassettes are unplayable, but thank you for bringing back memories of the best period of my life.

This is all over the place, try the audiobook it read cover to cover this is a shame will try and find the full story of this play and upload if i can
