How to Mount a Horse

Step by step guide of the best, safest and most animal friendly ways to mount a horse. Once you see this video you will no longer grab your saddle horn to lift yourself up.

This method of mounting your horse also takes the side ways pressure and stress off your animal. It's very important to watch how the horses head is turned while Joe mounts. By turning your horses head you dramatically increase the control you have by controlling your horses angles (If you don't fully understand what horse angles are or why they are important check out Joe's channel (Competitive Horsemanship) where he has other videos that explain all this and much more). By controlling your horses head, you control your horses angle while mounting. This lowers your risk of injury and increases the odds of being able to handle your horse while mounting if something were to spook it before you can get fully into the saddle.
