Breton Gavotte - Basic Fiddle Lesson

I first got interested in Breton Gavottes by listening to a recording of Kevin Burke called Portland.

I made some “Learning Chunks” on the FiddleHed site to help you do this. These focused exercises contain sheet music, tabs and mp3 snippets to guide you on each step of your fiddle journey.

And after you sign up, I’ll also send you a mini-course of lessons specially designed for your skill level.

Alrighty. Play every day, have fun 😀 and thanks for making music 🙏

Now, go fiddle with it...

I love the sound of this piece! Thanks for breaking it down the way you do & providing tabs. As a beginner I really enjoy your teaching style and tremendously helpful videos. Thank you!👏🏻😃

Good choice for a lesson, further rounding out the library. Coming up on a year of playing and this is still my first and favorite channel. Nothing else like it. Looking forward to the new website.

@fiddleHed
Hi from Bro-Velgia.
Those GAVOTENNOÙ (singular is GAVOTENN) and nor gavotte.
Never mind.
Padrig Sikard collected them, I think.
He recorded it on a fine album with Breton songs and a set of EN-DROIOÙ (sing EN-DRO).
I would recommend to study with Padrig Sicard's album as it is better :)

Don't hesitate to exaggerate the rhythmic pulse.
2 fine Breton fiddle players I would recommend are Christian Lemaître and Jacky Molard.
There is also that beautiful brown haired fiddle player woman who plays with Jean-Charles Guichen, Claire Moquard.
Kenavo tuchantig 🙂
