King Kong 2005 - Caravan Of Garbage

Before King Kong takes on Godzilla in 2021 let's take a trip back to the year 2005 for the remake of the 1933 classic King Kong. After the success of the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy Peter Jackson was given the opportunity to take a shot at one of his all time favourite propeties. It's got action, monsters, bugs, monster bugs, a really long boat sequence and Jack Black. But what does it all ad up to? Certainly something. Thanks for listening!

I remember seeing this at the cinema when I was 11 years old, and loads of Dad's clearly brought their toddlers to the theatre, and some kid just LOST IT when the bug scene started, screaming and crying like crazy. It sent a wave of terror through the cinema to the point where the whole audience was just reeling in disgust and terror, yelling and shouting out screen. Coolest cinema experience of my life still.

This is one of my favourite movies idc. The CGI is fantastic, the acting was solid especially from Naomi Watts, the soundtrack is phenomenal and I still listen to it to this day, and I will never not cry when Kong dies

I gotta say, even though this film is super indulgent, Peter Jackson's passion for the project is visible throughout and that makes it all the better. It feels properly epic, and even though I'm sure you could edit it down to a brisk 120 min, I am glad we got the version of this story.

This remains my favorite version of Kong to date. People give it crap for being long, but it needs to be in order to establish character. By the end of the film, you're so attached to the story that it pulls you in and breaks your heart. I can't think of any movie in the past 16 years which has done that as efficiently as this film has.

My favorite parts are actually in the first third, before they even get to the island. It has great establishing groundwork to the characters and fills you with unease right alongside of the crew.

I just rewatched this again last week and I still can't get enough.

The bit with the bug pit is one of the few bits in a film to genuinely traumatise me. The bit where the worm comes down over Andy Serkis's head is the worst.

i find this movie to be so damn good. Like a true new era monster mash that was just amazing for its time. Most expensive film to make at the time and it showed it.
The movie is very long though. Kong is ofc the highlight of the movie and Kong delivers every minute he’s on screen

If you’d believe it, there’s actually an EVEN LONGER extended version of this. It’s 13 more minutes and it adds in 2 more action scenes. I think it’s got hijinks with a stegosaurus and some creepy water creatures? It’s been a while since I’ve seen it. It’s all right.

This movie is so underrated, man. So epic and emotional, it's unbelievable how many things work in this one. I got the too-long criticism, but damn... this is KING KONG. Deal with it!
