Fiat Tipo in-depth review - Carbuyer

one thing that annoys me a little with reviews is when they complain about black dreary interior..I agree however so does every German premium car but will you ever hear those words there?

I hired a new 2017 1.6 diesel Tipo for a week, and I was actually really impressed with it. Much prefer it to my Cooper and 08 Focus. The ride was fairly quiet and comfortable. The sat nav was decent, and I especially liked that it updated the speed limit on the go and had live functions. The touch screen was easy to navigate to change radio station. The seats were comfortable - which is very important to me as I have back issues. I didn't even have a problem with the gearbox, which I thought was quite smooth. I think I'll be picking one of these up as my next car.... I covered 180 miles and only used 4 fuel pips on the fuel gauge.

Fiat told us that you don't need to be rich to buy a great car and the Tipo is a proof.
Unique style, italian-made cars always give you satisfactions.
I am proud of my 2002 Fiat Punto.

Some of those negative points are nitpicking. The interior is fine. The stalks are fine. I only had radio on my version which was great, but a little too far away to be operated properly and safely. The ride is lovely and the suspension is the best I have been in (I have driven plenty of Fords). Boot space is good though my Mondeo was a beast in that department. The main issue for me was the head clearance which was just ok, but the visor feels an inch too low, so you feel like you are hunching under it alittle bit. I am 6 1" so not massive. It feels ok once you get used to it and overall I'd give the whole package a high rating. I loved driving it. And it's a very smart looking thing which I admired every time I looked at it.

i´m an owner of one "tipo" and i desagre about the negative points. at first i had no espectacions about the car but these car as gain on me day by day. To understand an intalian car you have to by one.

some people cant accept maybe but this is a quality c segment hb car like golf, focus, auris, megane, 308 etc.and has a big price advantage according to other competitors.this is reality.

I'm glad I never saw this review before I bought my Tipo or I would have never had got one I've had mine over a year and a half with 35000 miles on the clock now and I'm very happy with the car and I've never had any trouble with changing gears fast or slow with no crunching also my son who only 13 learn to drive it so again I don't now what that man is going on about the steering and gear change being vague obviously fiat it's not paying him enough.ps 10 months on and nearly 45000 still going and there nothing wrong with the storks not broke or falling off lol.... UP DATE Still going 14/9/21 did have a glow plugs replace this year £130 fitted but still run ok and a bit of wear on door card nothing to worry about and I don't now how it happened but had to have a new rear window mechanism with motor I don't know if it had been forced £125 new fitted my self 51000 miles now this man is talking crap lol🤣😂😁 AND THE STORKS STILL WORKING 🤣🤣😂

I so love when automotive journalists complain about scratchy plastics without any background in material science. Scratchy plastics are great for you! They do not belong in a living space like a bedroom, but they are ideal for high-durability uses like transportation - those shiny plastics used in premium models will quickly deteriorate and will look like a piece of junk 10 years from now.

I think you work for some German or french car's OEM. Try to touch the VW plastics...are the same in quality as the Tipo. Unbelievable how the unfair marketing is powerful.In my opinion this is an honest car with the quality/price ration far better than any other German cars.

I used to work for a company that rented these out, and it gave me a prejudice against Fiat. All the feedback about them was 'gutless'. When I was buying a used car, I'm really glad my brother talked me into going to look at a 2008 Fiat Bravo, because it is better in every respect. Really lovely car to drive, beautiful, and solid reliability even though it's pushing 11 years old. Kind of tragic Fiat never got the recognition/sales they deserved for the Bravo, but good for me because it kept the prices down.

is an economic car, you can not compare it to a Focus and Golf. Ok plastics are not beautiful but this car was born to be economic.

you can choose a larger 7 inch screen infotainment system!

The Tipo hatch in my country its' different. The dash is not like that and the screen is a lot bigger. And it has a arm rest in the back seats.
