I started to realize the way that I set up my grip on the serve, is I let my arm and hand rest so that my Racket points down, while only holding the Racket loosely with my Pinkie, after relaxing my arm, hand and all the other fingers, I then (without even looking) grab the Racket gently in the Continental grip I'm comfortable with, with all the other fingers and my thumb automatically moving into place as they make quick, almost unnoticeable, micro adjustments until the grip on my Racket feels completely comfortable and natural. I do not it grab tight, because my grip will automatically tighten up in the first stage of the serve. I've made sure that the grip I keep ending up with is the correct grip and that I do not change the grip after lifting up my arm again. Thanks to all the things I've learned on Intuitive Tennis, as well as all the training and drills I've done for the past three weeks, my serves are incredibly reliable, controllable, and unbelievably powerful! Last week I thought I reached the maximum power I could reach with my serve at my level, but yesterday, while I only made a few serves, the power increased maybe two fold, without having a decrease in reliability or control that I noticed. Is it normal for serves to sound like freaking cannon or is it because I was using new balls? I'm telling you, I feel terrified for the opponent's part I imagine who is about to receive one of my serves!
Sorry if I sound like I'm bragging, but right now I'm more afraid than proud of my serves, it feels too strong for what I imagined I should be able to accomplish. I think it's about time I try doing target practice with my serves next time I do serve drills, I think that's a good way to solidify the foundations I've built over the past few weeks, since the serves will be no good if I revert back to my old habits.
Thanks for the videos Nik! Keep it up 👍
