Είναι ένα από τα παλαιότερα γνωστά ελληνικά θέατρα και χτίστηκε γύρω στο 525–480 π. Χ. Το θέατρο έχει ελλειπτικό σχήμα, και όχι τη τυπική διάταξη σε ημικύκλιο που έχουν τα περισσότερα ελληνικά θέατρα. Το θέατρο είναι ένα από τα αρχαιότερα στο κόσμο και το παλαιότερο σωζόμενο θέατρο στην Ελλάδα.

It is one of the oldest known Greek theaters and was built around 525–480 Before Christ. The theater has an elliptical shape, and not the typical semi-circular arrangement that most Greek theaters have. The theater is one of the oldest in the world and the oldest surviving theater in Greece.
