Vermiform Appendix, once considered a vestigial organ, contributes an important role in immune function. At first, the laparoscopic view and microscopic Anatomy of vermiform appendix is discussed. Then the risk factors of acute appendicitis are talked about which include Diabetes Mellitus, faecolith obstruction, and previous abdominal surgery. Its clinical signs are pointing sign, Rovsing’s sign, psoas sign, and obturator sign. After that, while talking about its differential diagnosis, explanation is provided about variety of diseases such as gastroenteritis, lobar Pneumonia, pelvic inflammatory disease, Intestinal Obstruction, and diverticulitis.

Moving onward, for the purpose of diagnosis, preoperative investigations include routine full Blood count, selective pregnancy test, supine abdominal radiograph. Following this, non-operative management comes under consideration in which intravenous antibiotics and bowel rest is prescribed. Besides this, operative management or surgical procedures are also discussed. These encompass conventional, retrograde, and laparoscopic appendicectomy.

Once the surgery is done, some postoperative complications arises such as Surgical Infection i.e. wound Infection, intra-abdominal abscess, venous thrombosis and embolism. After describing the classification of neoplasms of the appendix, light is shed on its treatment through omentectomy, intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Later on, information about pseudomyxomaperitonei is delivered.
