Ireland and Northern Ireland in different time zones would be a disaster

Having the same time zone makes it easier to work together - having Germany and France in different zones seems like a bureaucratic nightmare

Spain had the London time until WWII, we set the time to Berlin's time because our country was aligned with the axis. It was supposed to be temporal but we noticed that having sunlight until 10 pm in summer brings tourism so... Here we are.

Timezones are not picked due to geography. They are picked due to economic activity with your neighbors.

The dutch definitely do not want to separate their time zone from Germany, since it is an important border way more important to us than the one with the UK.

So this is how it feels like to have somebody else come in and draw straight lines on your map?

Geographically yes, logistically that'd be a nightmare

I live literally 15 meters away from the German border in the Netherlands.. Man that would be weird.

Who thought it was a good idea that northern ireland should have a different time zone to the rest of ireland?

With these time zones it would be dark at 4pm in winter where I live in the Netherlands. 5pm is early enough so I hope this won't change just because it looks more logical on a map!

Greece having 2 time zones and 1 is just for islands.
That wont go well

A different timezone for France and the Benelux on one hand and Germany on the other is intensely moronic.

I feel like they are just asking for trouble when they separated Ireland and NI’s time zones

Europe is bases on the free transportation and exchanges of goods and people. It really Would be a nightmare for everyone if the western Europe doesn't have the same Time zone.
It's not stupid, it's necessary and a good thing for people

Most part of the western extend of the time zone is because of WW2 and economic ties with Germany. There even used to be years when Portugal, UK and Ireland also had the CET

I live along the Franco-Italian border and just seeing this made me imagine the absolute hell the people here would raise if this were implemented

Europe is too interconnected for this.

In my opinion it would be easier if we had a universal time. Like everyone is in the same time zone and we just accept that it gets dark when it gets dark.

So that's why that dinner times map was so messed up
