Have now properly burned-in my 400S and the thing that impressed me the most is the detail and sound stage is astonishing. Also have to add upon replacing stock velour pads with Focus hybrids there is also more weight/body to the low end. These cans are a great buy.

I have a question which of these two has better sound amplitude, for video games and movies with excellent sound, the Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro or the Hifiman HE400SE?

Thanks for the first impressions, I was super curious after seeing inner fidelity info. It seems I may have to go with 400i or 560 for my open planar with bass.

These are not as bass light as reviews make out. Bass is still there and you never feel like you're missing anything in your music. I was put off for ages because of reviewers having negative comments about the HE400s bass. No, it doesn't have any rumble and yes, it hasn't got the deepest of sub bass. But the bass it has is detailed, has great resolution and they have a very clever mid bass which keeps things lively and upbeat. One listen to these and you won't care anyway as the MIDS are the best I've heard in the £200-300 range. They are outstanding actually and very addictive. The micro detail they bring out can be breathtaking at times and always while retaining their overall smooth signature. They will make you revisit all your favourites, both old and new.

I heard that these sound better with focus pads and with some nice, bass boosting/treble boosting amps. I have also heard people complementing that these sound better after a decent burn in. Could you possibly review these against the X2s after a decent burn in with a better amp? Thanks!

What'd you think of the comfort level compared to original He-400? I ended up selling my He-400 because the weight was on the heavier side

Heard that the pads definitely hindered it's sound out of the box. Namely, if you use the Brainwavz HM5 pads it seems like it'll completely transform the sound.
