As to chasing several large candles (aside from NEVER chasing a move):

1) just add a moving average (length depends on your time frame but I use 21 & 50 EMA for my 5min scalping) and simply watch if price is too extended from it. If it is, don´t touch it - it WILL pull back!

2) even simpler: trade WITH the trend i.e only look for candlestick patterns after a PULLBACK/RETRACEMENT.
PS: my advise is to not trade pullbacks/retracements larger than the 61.8 Fib as they tend to signal consolidation/reversal.
