This seminar is part of the “Democracy and tolerance” line of work that the ILE is developing in collaboration with the Residencia de Estudiantes, and as such continues the 2021 seminar “Liberal democracy/digital democracy. Democracy and its current transformations”, and “The culture of freedom and its threats”, held in 2022.
While in the past the discussion focused on the internal dimension of democracy, the growth of populism, and non-liberal political action patterns, we will now consider those factors that test our capacity for resilience as free societies, which a war in our continent, global inequality, and the challenges of climate change have only accentuated.
The seminar seeks to assess how supranational cooperation among strong democracies is the best way to safeguard democracy and face crises.

· Partner Institutions: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and Residencia de Estudiantes.
