It's definitely noteworthy to tie the cicadas appearance to scriptural accounts. As a Navajo, we capture cicadas and eat a certain part. We equate the appearance of the insect with the lack of food. Famine is coming, folks.

Wow 🤩 that’s so interesting that you found that pattern! We lucked out and won’t be getting any in Cass County, MO. We’re directly under Jackson County. My hubs hates the sounds the Cicadas make, but it doesn’t bother me as much. My dog likes to eat them though! Yummmm

Are the cicada not going to move about the state? do they not fly around all over? Are these areas marked where they buried themselves, or only where they will be? I was in Missouri once in July many years ago, and heard the cicada. It was super annoying. and I hate bugs, so also terrifying. lol I wouldn't get out of the car at night when they were the worst. Not being a hater or denier...legit question. Thank you for all you post. Really fun and exciting/mind thinking information. Please keep it up.

I live out in the country in Western Kentucky and they just started coming out 2 days ago and our trees and grass are covered with them. It stormed (rained all night) last night and many died so we can't even go outside because it smells like rotten meat and the base of our trees are covered in flies. They are literally falling out of the trees and landing on us . I know this is a once in a lifetime event but we can't even go outside right now and it just started.

California has cicadas also but are not a part of what’s happening in the Midwest. I grew up in California. I can remember the cicadas when I was young.

I am excited for this CICADA event, and as a student of Entomology in decades past, it is a Once in a lifetime occurrence. Also of course they are not on the west coast. We do have them in Texas too!

I lived in Beaver Utah for seven years(2016-2023) and my dog and I would go out on BLM land. One year I saw hundreds of little holes in the ground. I was frightened., wondering if was a sign of some dangerous insects. The locals told me it was cicadas and they were harmless.
