Makera Carvera Desktop CNC - World First Z-probe Crash!

Since I am the only person in the world with a consumer version of this machine - I get to be the first person in the world to make all the dumb mistakes! But my painful mistakes can be your YouTube learning content, so there's that. I'm also helping the Makera team work through a number of issues so they can update firmware and controller software before you get to unboxing your own machine. Yay.

In this video, I show you how to avoid crashing your Z-probe. And I walk you through doing a simple engraving job using Vcarve and the Carvera. I also included a section where the volume is left unadjusted while the machine is running and when I bring the lid down so you can hear the sort of sound levels produced.

Thank you for all the time and effort you’re putting in on this. We will all benefit in the end. I have never been more excited to receive a package. I’m talking Wells Fargo Wagon level here.

thank you, and it would be great to see the 4th axis in action. Especially thank you for sharing "your mistakes" while testing and trying. That makes it very sympathetic and helps to avoid to do the same mistake. 👍

Thanks again for the great experience share, and a very thoughtful project flow explanation using VCarve.👍

Good info. This is actually one of the main reasons I keep pushing for a pendant controller with jog dial. I was taught to always start the first run of the first part at 0% feed rate, and walk it forward with jog until it proofed.

What is the material introduced in 3:25 (high density foam) called? Can I get it from Taobao?

I recall viewing a video long ago, before kickstart investing, that allowed user to designate specific blank material locations that you wanted to probe.... What happened with that?
