Up to a million people died in Iraq, even if Blair did not lie (doggy dossier anybody?), he was wrong, Iraq did not have chemical weapons. Not only Iraq, but Syria was also destabilised and plunged into a terrible war as a direct consequence of Blair's action, ISIS was created and the whole international security situation was worsened by Blair. The point is regardless of Blair's motivations, invading Iraq was a catastrophe, not only for the 150 odd British troops killed, but for the huge number of innocents in Iraq who were bombed to death. In the UK there are many who think that his policies were calamitous, but again that's not the point, even if one takes the position that he improved the UK, Mussolini made the Italian trains run on time, so what. Why give a man who caused so much damage, human suffering and so many deaths a reward? Whether you are on the left, right or indeed neither, there is no justification for giving Blair a knighthood whatsoever.

If Blair had an ounce of decency in him he would decline the award, he knows that a high percentage of the public are totally
opposed to him receiving this award, whereas the remaining members of the public probably couldn't give a toss one way or

Why has it been forgotten (and was covered extensively in the news at the time), was that the investigating team in Iraq said quite categorically that there was no evidence of "Weapons of Mass Destruction" that they had seen. This was at least a week (maybe longer) before Blair and Bush started the War. Despite the advice Blair was given, he still went on about long range missile attacks etc., and made his intentions known to the Public. The Public were mindful of what had happened and millions did not believe Blair and many made it known that they did not. Add in the "Sexed up Dossier" and how the heck did the 3 inquiries not find that Blair had lied?
