Again I am going to do it avoiding fractions until the last step. My HS teacher of some 58 years ago said that "fractions are not your friends" and I have held to it, so again we do it like that other Poland problem: so x - 1 = 5x^.5 squaring I get x^2-2x+1=25x or x^2+1=27x squaring again I get x^4+2x^2+1 = 27^2x^2 or x^4+1 = 729x^2 simplify x^4 +1 = 727x^2 now then just divide both sides by x^2 and you get x^2+1/x^2 = 727 and you have arrived at the final answer
