Learned a lot, thanks. It's so strange when a knowledgeable person explains something, all of the sudden it seems so easy and logical.

Awesome. You guys are always busy creating tools and features seems like around the clock. You must get some sleep sometime...no? :-)

Does the VNC option bring the remote system's sound to the local system?
I am asking, because I am planning on setting up 2 laptops.

Laptop #1 will feed audio files to a DAC (digital to analog converter), via a USB cable. But due to issues with long USB cable runs (ill-advised to exceed 3 meters, to avoid jitter), this laptop will remain close to the DAC, and 20' away from my seated position.

Laptop #2 will sit on my lap, and will connect to laptop #2, via an Ethernet cable. Laptop #2 will act as a remote control for laptop #1. It will bring the full desktop of laptop #1 over to laptop #2. But the audio, from laptop #1, must remain with laptop #1.

I am able to do this with Windows, via remote desktop. Remote desktop has an option to choose where the server's audio should go. So this works for me.
But it is Windows, and I want to divorce myself from Microsoft, in favor of a non-spying alternative -- and it looks like MX Linux is ideal.

Please advise on the question pertaining to the audio. Or if you have a better suggestion, something other than VNC, I welcome your help.

Thank you.

How did you actually set up the ssh server on the netbook though?
