People losing their minds over JJ fighting Alex apparently aren't aware that ring rust is a real thing, and JJ definitely has it after 3 years of not fighting. He tried to get a fight with Austin, but Austin was allegedly asking for too much and it fell through, and now he's fighting Gib. If Austin beats Gib, JJ will fight Austin likely in December or January, or February.

In MMA they don’t really do this, they just stick people in with people if they agree and they fight. Sometimes it like they never left and sometimes it’s very clear they have ring rust.

In boxing it’s very common and traditional that people take on easier fights as they develop, and also when they have had a break from fighting they do the same thing. Tyson Fury did this.
