A few years ago, I created a helpful concept about image magnification. Take the square root of the advertised power and we will have what can be called the linear magnification - such as how many times wider the subject will appear. For example, the subject as seen through a 16 power device will appear a 4 times wider. With a 100 power device, the subject will appear as 10 times wider.

You are an awesome person with nice skill of teaching others about optics and binoculars. I am very happy that there are people like you.
I have had a camera to shoot photos of birds but I turned to binoculars and observing more than making photos - I sold my Canon Powershot SX60 HS and bought Celestron–Nature DX ED 8x42 binoculars.

I like coffee, and I'm not young, so I'll be narrowing down my choice at 8x32. Beginner birder here. Thank you for the breakdown on binoculars.
