I've never surfed in my life, but do enjoy watching it and I have been to Half moon bay and seen these waves in person, drove down from Seattle and I can tell you that this place just commands respect even from a onlooker as myself.

I wonder if anyone else gets the feeling that when they watch a video of mavericks that it looks like an easy wave to catch, then you see how small the surfers look compared to the waves, and that thought is quickly removed.

@nopantsnoproblem1 it actually is a fairly easy wave to catch. its huge yea but its relatively slow moving and the break isnt so hard so for big wave guys its a really chill spot

Andy Irons died from using drugs. The other famous surfer to die there recently was Sion Milosky.
