I really appreciate Brendon McCullum as a character and what he has done for the mentality of the team. I'm not sure I appreciate however some of the approaches to selection. I think Anderson would have contributed out here, not only on the pitch, but in the dressing room. I know everyone was so keen to call time on Anderson, but sometimes you need big characters. That aside, I also think these kind of tours really show up who is prepared to graft for wickets in a canny way, and who is running in on the basis that 'something will happen'. I also feel for McCullum a bit because our first class cricket season, on dewey green tops, is no preparation for this.

Haven’t won a series against India and Australia. Won against the windies and Sri Lanka at home which isn’t as hard as it used to be.
