FOLEGANDROS | Our Favorite Greek Island You Must Visit | Retirement Vlog #73

We continue our Island hopping Greece with with some amazing views in Folegandros, Greece filmed in 4k drone. Our Greece travel tips start with this beautiful island that turned out to be the one that stole our hearts. Our airbnb (see link below) was perched on a cliff overlooking the Aegean Sea and John was able to use his drone for some amazing views of this hidden gem island as we hiked the trails that crossed the island. Our favorite Greek island so far has a rugged landscape, miles of stone fences and hiking trails, an iconic church, beautiful shoreline and some very friendly people.

As the retirement travelers, we have always dreamed of traveling, but we never in a million years thought we would become travel vloggers and start a YouTube channel. But, that is what we did! We work hard every day to become better and create something that others will enjoy. Having a community of friends, old and new, follow our journey is fun and exciting to us.

In 2019, we achieved our goal of visiting every state in the union in our Airstream. We also visited every national park in the lower 48. We are big believers in lists, so of course we plan to see the remaining 12 parks in the next few years.

In 2021, we made the big decision to extreme downsize to just a suitcase and a small backpack, each. We started our journey around the world beginning in Central America. We hope that over the next ten years, we will have seen many beautiful things, made many memories and new friends, and shared the experience with our children and grandchildren.

After watching this video we added 4 nights on Folegandros to our itinerary, and we’re so happy we did! We spent 4 nights on Milos (which we also loved), then carried on to Crete after. We flew to Milos, then travelled by ferry which we found very convenient. We stayed at Themonies boutique hotel. It was lovely restored farm buildings, with wonderful service and a short 10 minute stroll into Chora. The old town is beyond beautiful, and surprisingly large for an island of only 700 inhabitants. Although the island is tourism driven, it does not feel over-run. The beaches are incredible, especially the ones you have to hike to, and the scenery stunning. The terracing everywhere is remarkable! We were there at the end of September, just before everything closed up for the season, but the temperature was in the high 20’s. Thank you John & Bev for the suggestion. We also highly recommend Folegandros!
