Naturally Dyed Easter Eggs

In my family we dye eggs in onion peels. We do it like this:
1. We start collecting onion peels quite some time before easter.
2. When the day comes, we put all the peels in a cauldron big enough for all the eggs, add some water and boil it. Then we leave it off fire until we need it.
3. We put the greens on eggs (although we do it a bit different, your way will work just fine)
4. We put all the eggs in the cauldron and boil them just like we would any other day. (Leave the peels in there!)
And it's ready! :)

I like this technique because the will then be editable for an egg salad or otherwise... as apposed to the 100% silk methods might not be food safe dyes in the silks. AWESOME and thanks for making others aware there are options when it comes to coloring eggs. I could imagine some lovely greens from a plant as well as some cool reds too. I think if we researched we could come up with some killer colors. :) Right ON!

We dye eggs like this every year! You can also use grain! :)
And, you can put thoes eggs with the onionskins in big pot and boil them! That way you will get intense red/brown color, but they have to stay in the pot for longer time as they cool down.
A lot of onionskins are requered. My mom saves up onionskins few months before Easters:)

if its ok to add its even better if u boil the eggs (even more if the eggshells are darker they take colors harder )with the onion skins ^^
