Hendrik Johannes "Johan" CruijffOON (Dutch: [ˈjoːɦɑn ˈkrœyf], anglicisedto Cruyff; 25 April 1947 – 24 March 2016) was a Dutch professional footballplayer and coach. As a player, he won the Ballon d'Or three times, in 1971, 1973, and 1974.[1] Cruyff was the most famous exponent of the football philosophy known as Total Footballexplored by Rinus Michels, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in football history.[2][3][4][5] In the 1970s, Dutch football rose from near obscurity to become a powerhouse in the sport.[6][7][8] Cruyff led the Netherlands to the final of the 1974 FIFA World Cup and received the Golden Ballas player of the tournament.At the 1974 finals, he executed a feint that subsequently was named after him, the "Cruyff Turn", a move widely replicated in the modern game.

Johan reinvented the game and he was art in the purest form. No discussion if he was the best, because thousands will claim their own hero. Argentinean will have their Messi, Brazil their Pele and so many other fans worldwide will cry out for their hero. Just one remark; he invented total football with Rinus Michels and improved the game for a full 100% as a player, coach and philosopher. He was just Johan, never judging, never claiming he was the best. Just Johan playing the game one way or another.
