Pokkén Tournament Pro Pad Review - Pokkén Hori Controller Review

Pokkén Tournament has its own wired controller, but it's limited in several ways. Does it warrant its rather fair price tag or will it fall into obscurity due to its lacklustre compatibility? Alex has the skinny on this new peripheral so if you'd kindly step this way...

For Pokkén I'm completely fine with using the Wii's Classic Controller Pro as it's virtually identical to this pad, but using it on my PC is veeerrry tempting...

just pointing out that if you remove the battery and plug a pro controller into a wii u via a charger, the pro controller works as if it's wired with no input lag

P.S: I heard you can only use the controller in Pokken as *Player 2 only*. Is that true or not?

This controller is great for pre-64-bit-era videogame emulation and has been my go-to for that for years. The build quality is great; the D-pad and all other buttons, including the shoulder buttons, feel high quality. My only issue is that the paint on the buttons eventually wears off. Everything else is great:

Great build quality
Low latency
No dumb Turbo button (not sure about anyone else, but I only ever accidentally press these dumb buttons)
Great, classic button layout
Unique, sleek design
Long cable (despite this the latency is low and you almost certainly will never be in a situation where you’ll have to use an extension cable, something which definitely will increase latency)

i just got one. isn't the red part supposed to light up? or is that just the arcade version of the controller that lights up?

I personally use it for PPT. Helped loads for PPT. It also helped for Tetris 99.

So it's just compatible with Pokkén if you plug it into your Wii U, and works like every other PC-Controller if it's connected to your Computer?

One thing I think he failed to say was that if you are gonna go to tournaments for Pokken you should honestly get this controller (unless that's what he meant by "if you really just love Pokken" then forget what I said)

I got it because it's a home version of the controller from the arcade version, and of course how could I not get that when I love arcades.

When I found out it only worked with the one game, for me it was worthless. But when I found out it was USB and I could use it on my computer, it made it all worth it. Can’t wait to play some SNES games with it.
