The major missed opportunity, to me, was that she wasn't the doctor in Yesterday's Enterprise.

Dr. Crusher is my space age queen.
But Polaski was a kind of Bones... The chemistry between Data and Polaski was a bit like Spock and Bones

Polaski added a bit of "calm" intellectual energy to the character of the Doctor ...it appeared that Worf enjoyed her presence more than the rest of the crew ....that was interesting

Pulaski was one of my favorite characters in TNG. I liked her because she often had a position contrary to Picard, and defended her position with zeal rarely seen on the Enterprise D.

Pulaski not being used in DS9 was a missed opportunity.

Potentially unpopular opinion: I much preferred Dr. Pulaski to Dr. Crusher. I really felt she had the potential to be a more nuanced character, and I have would have loved to have seen her relationship with Data develop and evolve. We had a few hints here and there. A missed opportunity I think.

Her character evolved greatly imo. Her interactions with Data were a prime example of that. I didn't like her at first, but I think she was a great addition to the cast. She was stubborn, but willing to change . I wish we could have seen her more.

I liked her a lot. She reminded me of Bones. When I was younger I didn’t like Crusher leaving but the older I got I thought Polaski was much more interesting.

She deserved better than merely being a near carbon copy of Bones. Her character had started to grow on me after she stopped being merely a female McCoy. She started to show Data a level of respect that the rest of the crew had still struggled with. The biggest time was when she respected Data's friendship with his alien pen pal, and she recognized Data's emotional response when everyone else ignored it.

I liked Dr Pulaski, I felt she brought a more serious and in depth character to TNG. Something about her just didn’t seem as corny as Dr Crusher. Pulaski was more doctor like where as Crusher was the Enterprise’s in house soccer mom.

I loved Dr. Pulaski on STNG. I was never quite as much of a Dr. Crusher fan and I liked that the actress, Diana Muldaur, that played Pulaski was on the original series in "Return to Tomorrow" and "Is There in Truth no Beauty?" She is a gifted actress and her portrayal of Dr. Pulaski provided a much needed skepticism on the show. I'm grateful we got her for as long as we did! Wish it had been more though!

She had more character development in one season than Crusher had in 6 seasons.

For me, she was WAY more interesting than Crusher. She brought some nice conflict between characters. Really liked her. IMO, gutted Crusher came back.

Dr. Pulaski is also responsible for one of my favorite scenes in all of TNG. The episode where Riker's father comes on board the Enterprise, and he encounters Dr. Pulaski in Ten Forward. They share a hug, while Riker and Chief O'Brien watch from across the room.
Riker: "They know each other!"
O'Brien: (snort) "No kidding. I know her too, and we don't do THAT."

When I was younger I was not too happy with Pulaski. As an adult and watching TNG on Netflix, I find her character rather good. She's cranky, but not obnoxious, caring and stubborn, but not stupid and completely inflexible. Her character developed quite well and she mellowed a little as time went on.
I also like Crusher, but I sometimes wish they developed the very subtle romance she had with Picard.

I love her much. My favorite. She was the Bones that Crusher never could be. Crusher didn't really add anything to the show while Pulaski did.

Pulaski was unfortunately a character way ahead of her time and she was the best character in the early seasons of TNG where most of the main cast were written as cardboard thin. Only later did they start giving the other main bridge cast some depth flaws and character

She was a great character because she challanged Picard and Data. And she was right and wrong. Dr. Crusher is beautiful but she daft and was there to elude that there was a romance between Picard.

Well, it is what it is.

I liked Pulaski! She added something to the crew, by being sceptical of Data as an individual for example, and it was that which added to her character growth. I wonder what she would have been like thoughout the rest of TNG!
