Xi Jinping Leads Top CPC Leadership to Meet Press

Soon after being re-elected general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Xi Jinping presented the Party's new central leadership when meeting the press Sunday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

Amid applause, Xi led the other six newly elected members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee into the room.

Xi was flanked by Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang and Li Xi.

Zhao Leji and Wang Huning served on the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the 19th CPC Central Committee, while all the others were members of the Political Bureau of the 19th CPC Central Committee.

The new Central Committee, elected at the closing session of the 20th CPC National Congress on Saturday, held its first plenary session Sunday morning. The plenum elected the Central Committee's general secretary, members of its Political Bureau, and members of the Political Bureau Standing Committee.
