I tried reversed P-pickup a couple of days ago (and moved it closer to the neck, like on Mark's basses) - it sounds great. I heard a less mids (without loosing highs) and overall tone was more balanced, especially between the 2nd and 3rd strings.

Hey dude, can you do a video on Joe Principe from Rise Against? I think he has such a huge bass tone, especially on the first three albums, would love to know how to get that sound

Very interesting concept. I don't think I'd be utilizing this method entirely but I learned a little bit today.

Strangely, the more I grow old the more I go back to the first Blink songs, where there were not a ton of studio layers and effects involved. It's still enjoyable, but differently

SugarPill, have you heard of a band called Ned's Atomic Dustbin? They're a really amazing band from the 90's out of the UK, 2 bassists in the band. Alex Green plays those 5th chords, creates melodies and plays on the higher end of the bass while Matt Cheslin plays the lower parts. A good example is the song Grey Cell Green. Would love to see you do a video on them. Check them out first if you haven't heard of them. Cheers

Or buy a Fender FSR PJ Jaguar bass with Ebony fretboard & matching coloured headstock then route out 1 1/4" of wood on neck side of pickup, move the D&G half of P pickup to neck position, other side of E&A half of pickup, it is not inverted, D&G moved to neck side only, i have a Mark Hoppus Sea Foam green Jag with exact same pickup set up bar i have a Jazz bridge single coil, 1/4" polepiece AlNiCo V Epic Custom pickups, brass nut & saddles, a good set up & a great bass for most genres of music...i like the P pickup with a bit more bass on the D & G strings, it's not much but it is more even playing across the strings....

So, not so not really a "bass trick". It's just recording multiple tracks in order to produce a sound that he's not able to actually replicate in a live setting.
