A thin layer of white glue, let dry and then a clear acrilic spray paint coat. Will make the white in the paper look bright white(like plastic, and make the colors look well saturated, while the clear coat seals the paper and makes it smudgeproof.

If you use Brasso on the piece you can remove the printing on the torso. Then use water slide decal paper for the sticker. It’s used for train and model kits, but it will work perfect with LEGO and blend seamlessly.

Tips for any printing on vinyl is to use a laser printer, the toner sticks much better than the ink. I know they are spendy but if you have a local copy place or printing business they usually have laser printers, even libraries sometimes, and they will usually let you bring in your own stock. You might get objections to the adhesive backed paper though but it never hurts to ask (I know we’ll only let our staff handle adhesive paper on the copiers because they aren’t covered in the lease agreement for our copiers)

Seal your stickers! Whether it be a contact laminate or a spray sealent. It will help the smudging a lot.

Look into waterslide decals, it’s pretty simple to make and print your own. Will be a cleaner end result and not really hard at all!

If you could look into a cricut machine, you could do the torso designs with permanent stick on vinyl. It's basically a cutting machine, so the lines would be clean and the colors would be crisp, plus the machine does the tedious work of cutting so all you have to do is pull off the excess and apply. Planning on making some customs with this method myself, I've done 3d printed large size figures with this method and it worked perfectly

Try with waterslide decal paper, texture and colors should look a bit better but it’s prone to scratching unless it’s clear coated.

If you spray over the sticker paper with clear matte sealant right after printing it prevents smudging and your can handle and cut without ruining it

You could improve the Zetan by maybe using a large helmet and some arm printing and instead of rubber bands maybe find a red in the middle and white torso piece (pretty sure they do them)

Tip for the sticker paper: Make sure you have the right type. The package should say for inkjet or for laserjet. You have to match it to your printer. If you have an inkjet printer and have laserjet paper then theres a good chance the ink will rub right off the paper. If you have a laserjet printer and inkjet paper you might burn a hole in your paper or start a fire. Inkjet is for ink printers, laserjet is for toner printers.
