Foreigners don't realise how people within England don't understand eachother; I'm from South Yorkshire and I speak differently when I go down south so they can understand (but not by.a huge margin)...people from Cumbria would be like speaking another language to the average Londoner, and when they try and speak "normal" it's even less intelligible :D

Oh I think it easy to live in England without speaking perfect English I know people who do but they live on the margin Their existence is not a igood one they have been living precariously for twenty years or so If you want to seriously integrate you need exceedingly good English and ccommunicate with serious English people You need at least First Certificate of English or at best a Cambridge advanced one

My partner is a native French speaker, and i've always understood what she was saying, even if she didn't say a word perfectly. What I like about the English language is you can almost make it up as you go along and people will pretty much know what you mean.
