hmmm typically in these questions I write something like this:

where (ay + bx)^n c at r = nCr * a^n-r x b^r

where a, r = 1;
a = ....

In any case, great video. I couldn't really understand what I was being asked to do for the past part. now I get it :D

You are quite right, it would have been quicker. The idea was to make it clear how those values relate to the expansion.. Also, if you show your full working, you ensure that you don't lose as many marks if you make a mistake.

I can't tell you how much these videos have helped me in my last minute revision for the Core 2 paper tomorrow! Thank you! Could I ask: for part a, would I be able to write my answer as 1+8x^-1+16x^-2?

question: for the binomial in part B) wouldn't it have been faster to do:

8C1 * 0.25^1
8C2 * 0.25^2
8C3 * 0.25^3

gets me the same answer
