It is probably caused by intermittent oil pressure, somehow finding its way to the AFM/DOD lifter these long lifters should be locked i.e no oil supply from the DOD plate. Leaky AFM solenoid or manifold. Since it's engaging and disengaging, the lifter is probably fine. High milage engines. a good practice to replace all lifters and cam shft if any is scratched or in bad shape

Is that just a partially collapsed lifter or a spin lifter? If it was fully collapsed wouldn’t it wouldn’t move at all correct? Only asking Bc I’m going through the same diagnostic issue. Also are the injectors disconnected when you ran this test or just the main connector ?
