Redcat Gen8 vs Traxxas TRX-4 | Hill Climb Challenge

A couple dirt hills, plus some rock hills stood in our way.
These piles at a construction site are VERY challenging. The rock under the tires is constantly slipping away...making progress very difficult and changing the line you just decided to take!

Both trucks are modified. There is a build series for each:

Overall, fun was had and both trucks did very well. Some of the differences we see during this running between the two trucks comes down to body weight and battery placement. Otherwise, the trucks are VERY similar.

If I find that my Gen. 7 is actually more capable than the TRX4 in several spots. However mine does have portals that it didn't originally come with

Those are some capable trucks!
The gen 8 surprised me! Didn’t know it was so capable! Especially for the price! What tires are you running on it?
That is one sweet spot! The hills are perfect tests for these!

The only real noticeable difference (from here, anyway) is lighter body vs. heavy. The TRX4 looked more reactive on it's suspension. The Redcat was having to use it's own brute force to carry itself at times. I own the Gen8 V2, and it is a great crawler. Great platform that's not overbuilt so there is still room for one to tune it to their own use/location. Put a couple hundred bucks into it over time and it will be a top performer.
