The oar locks allow for actual rowing motion. You can move the minifig back and forth and the oars will move realistically.

I love that I’ve had these parts from a bin of LEGO my dad gave me from a job site that was fire/flooded and little did I know it had half of these old LEGO from the 80s it’s gone now oof
