It's so interesting, thinking back. In the summer of '86 I went through a C86 phase, influenced by the arty crowd at my college, so we listened to lots of Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Psychobilly, Sisters of Mercy, David Bowie, The Soup Dragons, Shop Assistants... but I had already been a New Romantic for about five years at that point so still had those feelings completely... Then came the Summer of '88 and the clubbing, the raves... 808 State and The Beloved 'The Sun Rising'. So if you put ALL my inluences from the best decade ever into a big melting pot, you get Synthwave/Vaporwave, Synth-Pop and a bit of Post-Punk and New Wave. I mean how cool is that! Growing older has that bonus thing – you just appreciate the best bits and it's so life-enhancing!
