Check Tvtropes, Mauricio - Jason Alexander's character definitely falls under "Hypercomptent Sidekick", especially considering the things he did to set everything after he undid Hal's hypnosis which Hal would rather still be in. And the fact that it also led to the two of them into soul-searching that made them better people than they were - with Hal overlooking physical unattractiveness in the name of inner beauty and Mauricio overcoming his own insecurities with physical deformations, both his own and other's - is a welcomed cherry on top
