I impulse bought Romancing SaGa 2 on Steam during the holiday sale after seeing it had "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews, yet I haven't played it yet.

But I just finished Metaphor ReFantazio last night, and have been debating on what to start next. I've got no experience with the series, but this video really sold me on it!

Yeah, I thought my favorite game released in 2024 was going to be Unicorn Overlord. I thought it was a lock. Then I got Revenge of the Seven for Christmas and I think it might be my favorite game on the Switch period. It's everything I love about JRPGs and makes me want to look more into the SaGa series, even though I know they don't ever do quite the same thing again. I just recently finished my first playthrough and I already want to do a second one to try some things differently. Specifically going to Cumberland earlier and choosing the worst solution for Comroon. I've recommended this game to every one of my friends and will continue to do so because it's just so good.

Small correction, ArtePiazza worked on the 2016 remaster but the remake was done by Studio Xeen, the folks that also did the Trials of Mana remake
You may have noticed the Mr S collectibles from this game is just Lil Cactus from ToM!

I was instantly hooked by the demo! Went in blind not knowing anything about the game, and was so impressed! The combat was addicting, gorgoeus character and enemy designs and the world looks beautiful and vibrant. And I love the idea of having the next generations taking over once you are gone. Can’t wait get the full game! Great review as always! 😊

When I tried the demo I was immediately satisfied by the ‘snappy’ feeling of the turn-based gameplay, that’s how it’s supposed to be.
Picked up a physical copy for the PlayStation 4 and I’m certainly looking forward to dive into this one.

Currently playing this gem and haven't a hard time putting it down, already approaching 60 hours and I just started a week ago, it's a brilliant game and so far it's my favorite turn based RPG on the PS5. I can't recommend it enough!

The original (well, the 2017 remaster) was one of the most unique games I played. Certainly my favorite SaGa game. I'm very excited to play this remake when I can.

I've been hearing a lot of positive things about the SaGa series lately. It had flown under my radar until recently, but I find it intriguing. Although it seems a bit daunting, I might keep an eye on it for when I have some space in my gaming backlog. Great review, TKN!

My 2024 game of the year to be honest. Nothing tops the experience of the 1st playthrough you get from this game. That blind playthrough is something you have to experience yourself.


Edit: If I can like this a 2nd time, I will, just for the Ryza bgm.

I'm glad you finally gave this one a go. The SaGa series is my favorite, and I want more people to play them, so they start getting bigger budgets.

Other honorable mentions are: SaGa Scarlet Grace, SaGa Frontier Remaster, and Romancing SaGa The Minstrel Song. Saga Emerald Beyond isn't bad (I might be biased), but its not the best one in the series in terms of story and characters, but the battle system is AMAZING.

I prefer linear games, but my friend is a huge mass effect fan so this game is basically the RPG for him. He asked us in the group chat about it and was really happy with what we told him. So at least one person is happy. I am glad he enjoyed the game. Unless he us still playing Dragon Quest 3. But I am sure he will have fun with it.
