Disney Movie Mistakes In Aladdin (1992). In the original animation, just before the Cave of Wonders allows Aladdin to enter, it instructs him: "Proceed. Touch nothing but the lamp."Although those instructions seem pretty straightforward, in other words, "don't touch anything except the lamp". For example, they both have contact with the magic carpet and Aladdin also clearly puts his hands on some of the rocks at one point. The live-action movie fixes this issue by modifying the cave's rules. This time Jafar tells Aladdin "to take no other treasure" and "to take nothing but the lamp". It's a subtle change, but the difference is that in the animation the rule was basically "don't touch" and in the live-action, it's "don't take".That small rule change clarifies that it's OK to touch or step on anything as long as you don't try to take it.

Well technically he didn’t interact with carpet. Carpet is a sentient being so he initiates contact thus interaction is fine here. The person who intentionally interacts would be Aladdin but this is accidental interaction brought on by the sentient carpet which the cave of wonders knows about. So anything that happens in the cave with the sentient carpet is a result of accidental interaction not intentional interacting.

Funny, I never saw that as a mistake even at 8. I took it to mean "Do not touch any other treasure but the Lamp." Also, it was somewhat explained that Carpet was not part of the original treasure protected from the curse (I forgot where, but I did hear this if someone could direct me to where) and that he was merely trapped there until someone could rescue him as well, therefore the "Rule" did not apply to him either.

You seem like that person who would argue that the "do not touch" sign means the sign itself or the wall it's mounted on and not the expensive thing the sign is next to because it doesn't say "do not touch 'thing'" so it's fine

The change was a clear instruction sure, but it also shows how some people either don't care or don't know how to read between the lines when it comes to the original line.

It was a given in the cartoon not to touch any other treasure but the lamp. The magic carpet is its own sentient being even though it may be considered said treasure and magically induced it could act on its own free will.
