Dr. Wayne Dyer the next principle I call giving up your personal history
and I learned it from a man named Carlos Castaneda who once said that one day he
said I finally realized that I no longer needed a personal history
and just like drinking he said I gave it up and that and only that has made all
the difference in the world you know the nice thing about giving up your personal history
is that if you don't have a story you don't have to live up to it
all of us have these bags of manure that we carry around with us
called our past and the people who have done things to us and the events and the circumstances all of this stuff that we
use and we bond to and we Bond ourselves to these wounds of our past and we identify ourselves on the basis of these
wounds and every once in a while we set it down and we reach in there and we smear it all over ourselves and then we
wonder why does my life smell so bad I don't understand this when in fact the now this moment merging
yourself into the now means that you may have been in a relationship I had a woman from Holland who came over to see
me whose husband had left her after 25 years she had four children and she just
had been on the verge of suicide and she was losing weight and she was depressed and she was taking all kinds of drugs
for it and she was getting sicker and sicker because she just couldn't get over it and she came to a book signing
that I was doing at a bookstore down in Florida and she said you've got to say something
to me you've got to say something to me that will help me
to get over this and I told her this line I said give up your personal history
merge yourself here now into this moment and those 25 years are something if you
want to understand how to do it think of your past as
oh this hat and this is your past now you can't just set this thing down
over here and walk away from it and give up your personal history because you'll
always have it there to look back at what you do is you pick up your
past and you embrace it you understand it you accept it

At 62, I began using the latter half of my first name, thereby changing it up just enough. Also, I deactivated by Facebook because I was dragging around people from high school who I only said “happy birthday” and “your dinner looks great” to. Then I re-created myself a brand new Instagram for just my art and photography. I grayrocked every single one of my narcissistic family of origin members who seemed hellbent on destroying me. And then I breathed a huge sigh of relief. Now I take long walks in the woods and I garden and I paint and I LOVE each and every day. I hope you, reading this, finds your own path to true inner peace. ❤

There is no “letting go” — It is accepting what is already gone.

Thank you for not putting music. It brings a sense of peace, assurance, and concentration.

I sold my house and most of my belongings. I threw away ALL of my pictures and scrapbooks. Everytime
I looked at those pictures it didn't really bring me joy. It wasn't sadness either since most of those pictures were taken during good times. I just realized I couldn't go back so why not just leave it there and let it live as good memeries in my mind.

If you don’t have a story, . You don’t have to live up to it. That sounds amazing in so many different ways.

Things happened the way they did because we needed the lessons learned.

Is that a fact?
It took me 5 years to get over my divorce because my x wife destroyed our family, turned my children against me and brought false charges against me. I was hurt on the job and needed surgery, was off work for a year.
My x re-married and interfered with my visitation and demanded child support when I was unable to pay it and had to get it modified by the Court.
Do you really think this was all in my mind?
I survived because I believed in God’s Justice and knew that one day He would bring it. Well, He brought it. And I have a good relationship with my children now. They are grown and know the truth.
To say that we can’t be affected by circumstances is ignorant. Ask our wounded warriors, the ones that are still alive, that is.
There are no easy answers. Only learning and enduring.

It isn't only the negative aspects of your past life you must give up, it's the positive aspects as well. Positives experiences bind you to delusions about yourself and create expectations for the tuture that don't happen. Giving up the past, means the whole past, not just the unpleasant parts.

When i was at a very low point in my life and in need of guidance, I was flipping through the tv channels one day and came across Wayne Dyer's PBS special called "Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life, " which was basically about applying principles in the Tao Te Ching in order to improve your life.

Now, 20 years later, I am still applying what ive learned in the the Tao Te Ching and am infinitely greatful for the day that I saw that Wayne Dyer special on PBS, and credit Dr. Dyer and the Tao Te Ching, as being the catalysts for the Man that I have have become and the life that I have lived to this very day.
