The Nervus Terminalis ( cranial nerve zero or terminal nerve) is mentioned in Gray's Anatomy (Goss) the Twenty-ninth American Edition (1973).

I wonder whether research has been complicated by not distinguishing carefully enough between reproduction (specifically, the copulatory act) and puberty. In puberty there are changes of a psychosexual nature. Perhaps pheromones play a role in the onset of puberty, but once the proper foundation has been laid for the psychological orientation of male to female, and vice versa, the action of nerve zero can be dispensed with, for the most part, and thus is relatively insignificant in the adult's sex life. In other words, if I may introspect on what I remember of my own early adolescence, I was aware of the changes in my own body, but initially I did not know what they were for. Perhaps sensing another's pheromones directs one's sexual awareness from one that is focused on one's internal state to one that is directed toward the opposite sex.
