This Program Predicts My Subscriber Count - Exponential Growth Java Program Tutorial

This exponential growth formula: y = a(1 + r)^x can predict populations. Since subscribers are a population and YouTube subscriber trends act similarly to exponential populations, we can use it to predict subscriber growth on YouTube.

Today we are programming this calculator in java that will take the 3 values we need to predict the subscriber growth of this channel.

This java program will be GREAT practice for you if you are just learning java!

Disclosure: The Springboard link provided is linked to my affiliate account & supports the channel.

Alex, you're an extremely deliberate and careful coder, checking your logic every step of the way. That's where I get into trouble. I sincerely appreciate your teaching style and I will follow your lead. Thank you so much!

Hi, Alex! Thanks for your videos, they helped me get the basics right, so that I am able to create my projects correctly. Here is an idea about a future video: useful multiple tips for good programming.

Example 1: I had to take input from user about which option he wanted. I set the "option" variable as a double, in order to prevent the user from crashing the progam. I made a boolean method that would check if the double is an integer. A professor gave me the tip of creating a Helper class with this method, so I can use it in all my classes. Also, it mattered if I enter 1, 2 and 1.2 (1.2 crashes the program).

Example 2: I tried making static variables in classes, which really messed up my code. When I created 2 points with x & y coordinates, because the variables were static, both points had the same coordinates. Idk why, but I used "static" only in my main class after that.

Example 3: I struggled with arrays of objects. I tried to create multiple objects in a for loop, and store them in an array, and am wondering the best way to do it, as I doubt my way is the most efficient in terms of memory and time.

In any case, thank you a lot. My idea is for you to maybe make a more complicated project, and show us how and why you are doing it, walk us through your thinking, and why you approach it from a certain way. Like a typical first or second project for a college course.

A lot of respect for your hard work, and I would deeply appreciate you considering this idea :)

Can there be a video going over a previous AP CSA frq? Almost every student taking CSA has the final next month and they're all out of school.
