Why Lane Johnson lets pass rushers hit him first.

Lane Johnson actually lets pass rushers hit him before he tries to hit them, which is incredibly rare. Usually offensive lineman try to attack the defensive lineman first so they can’t get past them, but Johnson is so supremely talented, and has such refined technique, he is able to force them to show their cards, then shuts them down every single time. How does he do this down in down out with sustained success? This week’s episode uses the all-22 coaches film analyze Philadelphia Eagles Right Tackle Lane Johnson.

Going off last week, what are some teams that lost the draft in your opinion? Which team’s philosophy do you least agree with and why?

Lane is one of the only dudes I’ve seen that was able to bully a prime von Miller… ended up staying on the opposite side all game

I also noticed he has perfect timing. He is literally ALWAYS moving within 5 frames from when the ball is snapped. It's absolutely insane how in sync he is with Hurts and Kelce.

Basically the offensive line version of a counter puncher in boxing

Hope to see him in the Hall of Fame one day the man is brilliant

Another great video mr. Rollins❤

Need more of these OL and DL breakdowns. I find them way more interesting than skill position breakdowns, personally.

I'm a lifelong Eagles fan. Lane is the most important part of the Eagles offense, and it has been that way for a really long time now. The birds offense does not run without Lane Johnson, period.
Edit: Eagles record without Lane Johnson is 13-22 and with Lane, it is 79-47-1

I can’t imagine what the eagles oline would look like if Brandon Brooks didn’t retire, absolutely terrifying to imagine. In these past 3-4 seasons they parted ways with two potential HOF linemen in Brandon Brooks and Jason Peters…but they still have Johnson and Kelce who will most definitely be HOFers…Dickerson and Mailata are next too I can feel it🤯🤯

Lane is one of my very favorite players. I love to see him getting the praise he deserves in recent years.

He and Kelce were inexplicably underappreciated for a long time outside of Philly. Their opponents knew how great they were, but you rarely heard TV commentators or fans of other teams recognizing them.

I think it's just tougher for the average fan, and commentator as well, to appreciate great OL play. There's so much going on each play, and our eyes mostly follow the ball. Still, it was always mildly annoying for me to hear different names thrown around, over the years, knowing damn well that Lane and Jason were superior. 🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅

You put Lane against any top tier /HOF pass rusher in their prime and they have a damn quiet day. Maybe not even a tackle. Eagles fans know, and the rest will come to see. Boy been a all pro since his 2nd year

Lane has been such a blessing as an Eagles fan, plus he played for my favorite college football team. Lane and Jason are the pillars of the Eagles offense, sad that they will no longer be Eagles after a few years 😢.

The fact the Eagles have the best Centre and Right Tackle of their generation is absolutely insane.

Can we just appreciate how this man actually goes deep into O line strategy I can’t really find other place that go this in-depth 😎

Another great breakdown.

Not the same level of athlete but this reminded me of how Wright handled Anderson vs Bama this year.

He’s the best right tackle in football and the gap between 1 and 2 is significantly large

This is such an amazing breakdown. As former DB it's great to learn other positions techniques

Fun fact, Lane Johnson was a QB and TE in college before transitioning to OL.

I love the breakdown, Lane is so unique that I'm not sure we will see anyone like him for a long time if not ever again. He has such freakishly long arms making getting around him nearly impossible and he isn't just athletic for a big guy. Lane played QB, TE, FS, and LB, I would be shocked if RB wasn't thrown in the mix during high school, he's the type of athlete who Made it to a D1 school playing a different position, and is going to be in the hall of fame at a completely different position. At this point, and this is a year from when you posted, you would still have to get lucky to get a sack off him. It would have to be some speed to power that truly catches him off guard and you'd need to bull rush him into the QB's lap and somehow get your hands on Jalen after that.

I'd donate 5 years of my life for Lane to keep playing for the Eagles man

Huge micah fan here! Micah is an easy 18+ sack a year dude if he didn't have to face this wall twice a season. Dude is magician out there!
