For this episode of “the art of conducting”, we sat down with Sir Simon Rattle, the music director of the London Symphony Orchestra.

He talked to us about what the lockdown situation looked like for orchestras, the rehearsing & composing process of Ondřej Adámek’s piece “Where are you”, the collaboration between conductor & musicians and much more!

Special thanks to the Hotel le Place d’Armes and it’s team for the warm welcome!

Simon Rattle i think is one of the best conductors out there, in rehearsals he knows how to give constructive criticism, not like Toscanini that just yells at the duble basses for not being in time but he acctually would tell them to play more early becouse the low sound takes more time to travel

I grew up in a period when he was leading the berlin philharmonic orchestra and i loved watching every single concert online. I just want to meet him one day. One of the best conductors ever.
