As much as the old Club was not good it was great for sleeping and when the divider was up it was very private so that's what saved it for me. Also BA staff have been exceptional the last few times I flew Club so maybe that helped a bit

BA 747 club world upper deck is very private with a 2-2 configuration, it also has storage bins like the a380

BA's recent profit drive actually makes a lot of sense. In the mid to late 2000's (particularly during the financial crisis) BA was losing a lot of money. So the recent profit drive seems to me like they're trying to replenish their cash reserves so that when the next big recession hits they are in a much stronger position than most of the competition. Once they are satisfied with their cash reserves I think we'll start seeing them care more about passenger experience.

Remember, the 747 upper deck also has the extra side storage in the old Club World. Plus it's a much smaller cabin on the upper deck compared to the A380, so is widely considered to have a much better soft product due to having less customers up there. Yes, it's an older aircraft but many have been refurbished to the new IFE etc, so also worth considering IMO.
