When I was in Nairobi I noticed that most Nairobians speak really bad Swahili. Maybe as a result of Sheng. It may not be true but that was my personal experience. I do like this series and I think you should make more

i think there is some value in devoting time to teaching some slang & even a little sheng. i do it with my students. it helps to "fit in" and people take you more seriously on the streets, market, etc. being adaptive is key. and both slang and sheng are part of conversational Kiswahili these days. by the way, the "do" for money likely comes from a slang word in English for money– "dough." asante kwa darasa, mwalimu!

Sheng we used in schools but not a threat it another Africa language like slang in English but I think each tribe should learn Swahili word as Africa language and also each tribe mother tongue read write and speak and it and forming is mother language.like my comments thumbs up.it not a threat but l think it like slang in English it should go under categories of language.

I really hope that - if I ever come to Nairobi - people will understand "my" Swahili🙃
I do not think that Sheng is a threat to Swahili as long as Swahili is taught correctly in schools.
In Switzerland there are 4 spoken languages!
"Bien" is French: Je suis bien = Ninaendelea vizuri.

mselamsela inamaanisha umetoka na yeboyebo au sandalz zako ovyoovyo. "Naenda mselamsela" = "I'm going out wearing just my sandals" meaning you are dressed very informally. Usiende kazini mselamsela 🤣
