"Difficult to explain without resorting to miracles"
And so you resort to.... miracles.

This kind of stuff is hard on someone with a geology degree. Continental drift, as it was called at the time, was obvious to me when I was in grade school, back in the '60s. Around the time I was getting that geology degree, I was told that a woman who taught at my high school (home economics, not any basic science courses), actually believed that Noah's ark was a real event. Yes, she was a very active member of my mother's church, but I was still shocked that an adult believed in that. It's like carrying a belief in Santa Clause into adulthood.

The "science is a mean poopy head" line made me laugh way too hard. My wife had to come in from the other room to see if I was okay 😂

I unironically enjoyed the term “spiritual nugget” 😂

Nitpick: the modern Rockies aren't 285 Ma old, they're more like 70 Ma. The ancestral Rockies rose around that older date then eroded down to form many sandstones and conglomerates that are now on the eastern and western slopes of the range. The Laramide orogeny pushed the area up again to restart the cycle.

35:30 We just got "conflating all science with evolution" on our bingo cards.

This is the closest I've seen to a Creationist source getting the science right, at least to a 7th grade level. Even touched on how we determine the composition of the layers of the Earth.

But crystal size is so easy to explain. Get something like Copper (II) Sulfate, dissolve it in hot water until saturation and pass the solution through a filter. Pour into 3 sets of test tubes. 1) insulated test tubes for slow temperature change, 2) test tubes kept at room temperature, 3) test tubes in an ice bath. The test tubes in 1) have the largest crystals, then 2), then 3). The reason? The lattice has more time to grow and fewer seeds when the temperature changes slowly. When temperature changes quickly, there are many seeds, and the lattice grows at each of them over a short time. The science is pretty clear. I've had 11 year olds perform this investigation. Obviously it's a little different, but the mechanism for crystal growth is basically the same.

I'm getting an almost Spirit Science feeling from this. Although he has a much better grasp of science and reality [and hopefully morality]

I think I somehow missed this one!? I’ll have to listen to it again when I’m not trying to sleep!

I died at Pepperidge Farms.🤣😂 In other news if you remove all the land the earth would be covered in water? Who would have thought it? I wonder if you remove all the water if the earth would be nothing but land? Does it work both ways?

I am a Christian, and i can explain the biblical flood and all the animals fitting on the Ark. It was a localised flood 🤪

Rewatching after sleeping through much of these in my collected playlist, and leaving a well-deserved like and comment. Recovering from sinusitis, which is yet another reminder that, if we were designed, the designer was either an idiot or a sadist. Well, or both. Could be both.

Dapper, the question weighing on MY mind is, are any of the mountains you named older than YOU? Enquiring minds want to know!

Also, the densest things on Earth are Creationists heads.

The root of the word "peleg" is "pelagic tunicate".

Apparently slab pull is more important than mantle convection for plate tectonics

Nice linguistic knowledge. One correction, though. Vietnamese is not Sino-Tibetan. It is Austroasiatic and related to Khmer.

Now Vietnamese does have a lot of Sino-Tibetan vocabulary, but like with Korean and Japanese, these were Chinese borrowings.

You might have been thinking of Burmese.
