How to Lock Files in Microsoft Teams

Written from the perspective of a teacher. Sometimes you don't want students to be able to edit files in the files area of a channel. This shows you how to lock files or folders for read only access, or to hide them from students completely.

I recommend making a sub folder in the files area of a given channel.
Click the 3 dots next to the folder.
Open in Sharepoint
(If locking a folder, click the parent folder)
Click the 3 dots next to the desired file or folder.
Manage Access
Look on the Right for the Team Name.
Click the arrow next to the Pencil, and change to Read Only.

Or click Stop Sharing to Hide completely from students.

You can do this in Teams for Mac now. Not sure about windows or web but my guess would be so. "Manage Access" was available right in Teams.

I have a slightly different request.
I am using this a way to share goals for a Track team.
I want all the data in one file. Kids to be able to view other's data but edit ONLY what they add to the file. Is there a way to do this?

If not what I will do is have a master file that has entered data from each submitted excel for the kids but that seems very tedious.

Nice info.
But I'd like to know how to protect the presented file e.g PowerPoint so that another participant in a meeting couldn't download the file?
